“Rose, Rose, I love you…” Oh, you just caught me out, there, in a rare moment of truculent sentimentality! I can assure you, it doesn’t happen that often!! As you can see, it’s not just me that’s back, back, BACK, as a certain Old Cheeser might say, but Billie Piper is, too. And, my, has she got her hands on a big one! One wonders how such a wee lassie can even handle such a large weapon? I thought it was Sarah Connor, for one brief moment. Then, I realised that this shot is from the Series Four Finale, of the upcoming run of “Doctor Who”, in which things look pretty hopeless for the Doctor as his lifeless body lays sprawled upon the ground. Filmed in the early hours of Friday morning on the streets of Cardiff, the Doctor (David Tennant - Who else?!!) is exterminated by a flying Dalek and returning former companion Rose Tyler, “Defender of the Earth”, attempts to resuscitate him… along with Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman), current concubine Donna Noble (Catherine Tate), former fellow traveller Sarah Jane Smith (Elisabeth Sladen), Rose’s mum Jackie (Camille Coduri) and “Old Uncle Tom Cobley and all”!

RTD's loves his big cliffhangers to be combined with huge family reunions doesn't he? Maybe Kylie will return too - albeit in a shower of stardust!
I wonder if Rusty, in all his excitement at having such a massive entourage, has forgotten about Martha?!!
Who's Rusty? Aaaah RTD you mean?!
Yes that shot of Rose is very Linda Hamilton-esque! Looks quite an exciting finale I have to say, although of course I will reserve judgement until I see the season closer...I hope to God it's better than The Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords! And although I'm looking forward to the return of Sarah Jane et al I'm wondering how the hell they're going to cram in so many returning companions into a couple of 50 minute episodes! It'll be like Dr Who - This Is Your Life!
Anyway Tim, where did you glean this infomrmation, pray?
Most of the ingredients of Season Four do sound promising (but then they always do). I share your concern regarding the return of the Daleks. They now seem to be inseparable from the programme, in the same way they were from Davros after "Genesis of the Daleks" in the classis series, but I like them so I don't really mind. In fact, I think the new series needs all this other stuff to help take our minds off Donna and Rusty (yup, RTD)!
The Daleks returning for the Finale is almost like an admission that last year's closing episodes didn't work because they weren't in it and had been in the more successful previous two years. I have a suspicion it was always planned, though, hence their appearance much earlier on, last year, to at least leave a reasonable length of time before this year's re-emergence.
The info on what happens to the Doctor has been knocking around for quite a while but was most recently repeated in Saturday's Sun! It also included a much smaller shot of Tennant lying face down across the road with Billie crouched over him.
Ah The Sun. Of course I am far too discerning to read papers of that "quality".
Then again, the fact that I don't means I lose out on finding out such "tidbits" eh?
Who said anything about reading them? I just look at the pictures!
