Comes of having a good writer, director and guest actor on board!TimeWardenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06853837867256272087noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10873408.post-34646972548265597772007-11-22T12:53:00.000+00:002007-11-22T12:53:00.000+00:00I thought they handled the encounter between ten a...I thought they handled the encounter between ten and five extremely well! As far as I'm aware, there are no plans for the BBC to celebrate the Doctor's anniversary this year. I don't think they will until he turns 50!

As for "The Five Doctors", Patrick Troughton looked considerably older and William Hartnell even had a new face! I don't think it really matters though because, on special occasions, it's just fun to see former Doctors back in the show and looking the part!!TimeWardenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06853837867256272087noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10873408.post-90615928953516149062007-11-20T14:51:00.000+00:002007-11-20T14:51:00.000+00:00Jesus!! I have tried to post a comment on here twice now and it's been lost...here goes again...

Thanks for posting this Tim - I did actually end up watching this on Paul's blog (Four Hundred Dawns) - unbelievably I missed the original transmission on Friday night as me and the hubbie were buying lights in Homebase! Sacrilege! Thank heavens for You Tube eh.

I enjoyed it on the whole but felt it was somewhat short - 7-8 minutes is very brief for sufficient exposition and a “story” - and that doesn’t count the Martha/Titanic bits that topped and tailed it (quite cleverly edited it though I felt). We Who fans do seem to get short shrift sometimes - after all it’s the 44th anniversary on Nov 23 and it doesn’t seem that the Beeb have planned anything else, unless I’m mistaken? Anyway it was a nice enough “tribute” and I agree with what the others say about the affectionate quality of the piece - just not massively substantial.

As for Peter D, good to see him back although dare I say he seemed very pompous and shrill, rather more overwrought than his original Fifth Dr persona! Then again, David T was back to his flippant, hyper-active self and one could kind of sympathise with the Fifth Doc’s annoyance with him! Also the technobabble they used to explain his presence didn’t really wash with me - if that’s the case how come the combined presence of the Drs in “The Five Drs” for example didn’t cause them to age? Gawd I’m such a geek…Old Cheeserhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17871751335676050949noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10873408.post-65850742795034154222007-11-19T14:58:00.000+00:002007-11-19T14:58:00.000+00:00Yeah, cheers for that - I meant to search it out o...Yeah, cheers for that - I meant to search it out on youtube, but you saved me the job.

I used to love PD's Who (especially the way he set off in one direction then had a second thought and turned around) and I liked the way Moffat's script playfully compared the performanes.Rolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02103804480646939038noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10873408.post-16159833872114063752007-11-19T09:25:00.000+00:002007-11-19T09:25:00.000+00:00I very much enjoyed this. It was just a bit of fun and though Peter Davidson was great.

Karen
xKarenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09787128489231528094noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10873408.post-16658558821628669672007-11-18T22:47:00.000+00:002007-11-18T22:47:00.000+00:00Glad you enjoyed it, Steve!Glad you enjoyed it, Steve!TimeWardenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06853837867256272087noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10873408.post-50005288327355396542007-11-18T10:17:00.000+00:002007-11-18T10:17:00.000+00:00You're a true gent!You're a true gent!Stevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02133900289384226725noreply@blogger.com
